Process Steps
Step 1 |
Prior to lodging the temporary import declaration (IM 5), an importer is expected to apply to the Commissioner General requesting permission to temporary import goods into the country and pay provisional payment. |

Step 2
|
The Commissioner General will respond to the application giving requirements to be met in order to be granted the temporary import authorization.
|
|
Step 3
|
The temporary import authorization letter will be issued and it comes with conditions to be met including provisional payment or guarantee. On importation the temporary authorization letter must be attached as supporting document.

Step 4 |
The importer lodges declaration IM5 after meeting conditions in the authorization letter.
|
Step 5 |
The agreed timelines for the goods to remain in the country should not be exceeded.
Application for an extension must lodged with the Commissioner General prior to the expiry date.
