Name | Import Export Permit for Firearms |
Description | Subject to this Act and any other law, no person shall import, export, purchase or otherwise acquire a firearm or ammunition except under and in accordance with the terms and conditions of a permit. No person shall sell or otherwise transfer —
(a) a firearm, except to a person having a permit to acquire the firearm; and
(b) ammunition, except to a person licensed to possess the firearm in which such ammunition is to be used, who is permitted to acquire the ammunition under this Act.

Comments | Any person who transfers a firearm in accordance with subsection (2)(a) shall, within two days of the transfer notify the licensing officer thereof. Any person who contravenes this section shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding one thousand Emalangeni, or both.
No person shall be in possession of a firearm or arms of war unless he is the holder of a current licence to possess it or is otherwise permitted to possess it under the Arms and Ammunition Act. In the case of an application in respect of a firearm, the application shall be made in the prescribed form, supported by an affidavit. |
